We report on the recommendations of the Hayne Royal Commission and the reforms now being put in place to implement the recommendations. Other important developments include the ePayments Code review, enactment of the whistleblower reforms, the draft rules for the Consumer Data Right, and new legislation to introduce design and distribution obligations and product intervention powers.
Next month the Federal election may see a change of Government. If that happens, we can expect a ratcheting up of regulatory action in the financial services and credit industry.
